SYDNEY, SEPT 25 – An Australian teenager has been charged with stabbing a 16-year-old teenager to death in the state of Victoria, Australia.
Victoria Police said today that they have charged a 15-year-old boy with one count of murder after a 16-year-old teenager was killed in a stabbing at a shopping center in Melbourne’s outer western suburbs yesterday.
Emergency services were called to a shopping center in Melton West, about 38km west of Melbourne’s central business district, shortly before midday yesterday, where the 16-year-old was found with life-threatening injuries.
First responders began first aid with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but unfortunately the victim died at the scene.
In a statement, Victoria Police said that investigators later arrested and charged the local 15-year-old and he will appear in children’s court at a later date.
The victim has been identified as Oscar Hamilton from the neighboring suburb of Harkness.
“Today our world is shattered,” his family said in a statement.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Victoria Police Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel L’Estrange said it was possible the couple knew each other.
Yesterday Tuesday was the second day of school holidays in Victoria. – Xinhua
