Back and forth was exhausting

For German national defender Jonathan Tah, the transfer drama surrounding him was nerve-wracking. “I would be lying if I said it wasn’t exhausting. In the end, of course, it’s always the players who have the least control over what happens in these situations,” said the Leverkusen defender on TV channel Sky after the 2:3 defeat against RB Leipzig: “Of course it’s exhausting when there’s such a back and forth. In the end, I accept it.”

Tah would have liked to move to FC Bayern in the summer. However, both clubs were unable to agree on the terms of a transfer for the player, who is still tied to Bayer until 2025. For the 28-year-old, the matter is settled for now: “I am completely focused on this. I am not a person who spends a long time thinking about the past. I am looking forward.”

At the same time, Tah stressed that he was happy in Leverkusen. “I never said that I felt uncomfortable here. On the contrary: I am super happy here. I have been super happy for the last nine years.”
