Brandenburg’s Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke took a trip to the Victorian era in the middle of the election campaign. The SPD head of government visited fans of so-called steampunk, who were celebrating a festival with theater, cabaret and readings in the rose garden in his hometown of Forst in Lusatia. Steampunkers invent an era in which they revive the age of steam engines in 19th century England and Victorian fashion through bizarre machines and English bourgeois style. Woidke took a tour of the festival grounds in the rose garden, played the barrel organ briefly and spoke to visitors. There were steam-powered sculptures, historical bicycles and costumes to see.
