AKRON, Ohio — Shots were fired at a group of bail bondsmen as they tried to serve a warrant on a residence in East Akron, wounding one person from the group, police say.
The group of bail bondsmen arrived at the residence on the 1100 block of Seventh Avenue at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday. Police say an unknown suspect opened fire as the group approached, hitting a 37-year-old male at least once.
The victim was taken to Summa Health Akron City Hospital in serious condition, police say.
Several people who were in the home were detained by police, including a 16-year-old male and an 18-year-old male who had outstanding warrants, but no arrests were made. The two teens were taken into custody for their warrants.
Police still are trying to determine who fired the shots from the home. No other injuries were reported.
