VfL Wolfsburg has surprisingly extended the contract with Belgian international Aster Vranckx. The 21-year-old, who was still considered a transfer candidate in the summer, is now bound to VfL beyond 2025, according to the Lower Saxony club. Sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz is convinced “that there is still a lot of potential in Aster”.

The Belgian international joined Wolfsburg in 2021. Between September 2022 and summer 2023, the midfielder was loaned to AC Milan. In recent weeks, he has been repeatedly linked with AC Florence, Lazio Rome and Aston Villa. The contract extension at least ensures that Vranckx cannot leave Wolfsburg on a free transfer next year.
