Beloved classic rock band announces its final concert

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Longtime classic rock favorite Electric Light Orchestra will perform its final show next year, wrapping up a 55-year career.

The band’s leader, singer Jeff Lynne, 76, said in a statement that the final show will be on July 13, 2025, at Hyde Park in London as part of BST Summertime festival, Billboard reports. Tickets for the show go on sale on Friday.

ELO performed last month at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse as part of its “Over and Out” farewell tour. The U.S. portion of the tour ends this weekend in Los Angeles.

ELO was formed in England in 1970 by Lynne, Roy Wood and drummer Bev Bevan. The band has had multiple top 40 hits, including “Don’t Bring Me Down,” “Evil Woman,” “Telephone,” “Turn to Stone,” “Mr. Blue Sky,” and “Strange Magic.”

The band split up in 1986, then briefly reunited in 2000 and 2001. It began touring again consistently in 2014.

“My return to touring began at Hyde Park in 2014,” Lynne said in a statement, Billboard reports. “It seems like the perfect place to do our final show. We couldn’t be more excited to share this special night in London with our UK fans. As the song goes, ‘we’re gonna do it One More Time!’”

ELO was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
