BEREA, Ohio – From “Captain Jack Sparrow” swaggering along the walking trails, to tables among the trees manned by businesses and groups offering costumed kids free trick-or-treat sweets, the Berea Harvest Festival had a little bit of everything to celebrate an awesome autumn.
Costumed characters, a magic show, kids’ crafts, a hay maze, food trucks, inflatables, a miniature pumpkin patch and more spanned the Coe Lake parking lot and grounds on Oct. 13. Trick or Treat on the Trails occurred in pre-ticketed shifts, enabling several hundred children to fill their bags and plastic pumpkins.
“I just like to enjoy the time with everyone,” a very realistic Jack Sparrow of “Pirates of the Caribbean” fame said. “You like to celebrate the Halloween spirit, and here I am!”
The Ferian family of Berea sat for a photo near the pumpkin patch, praising the annual city event for its family friendliness.
“We love it,” they all agreed. “We always have a blast.”
