The years-long stalemate over legal protection of allotment gardens in Berlin could soon be over. As the responsible environmental senator Ute Bonde (CDU) and urban development senator Christian Gaebler (SPD) both declared on Saturday, the Senate draft for the so-called allotment garden protection law is “on the home stretch”. “I am absolutely confident that we will manage it this time,” said Bonde, and said that the Senate would pass the draft in October.
