BMC encourages a healthy lifestyle

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, OCT 10 – Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) has organized a health campaign today, in conjunction with World Heart Day and World Mental Health Day.

The campaign aims to increase employee awareness of cardiovascular health and mental well-being issues. The initiative is in line with BMC’s commitment to building a healthy and resilient workforce.

The event started with the presentation of prizes to the winners of the Challenge Step 2 and quarter 3 as part of the campaign BN on the Move (BNOTM) x BMC 2024, which was delivered by BMC Executive Officer, Yasuhisa Tsukamoto, as an encouragement for an active and healthy lifestyle among employees.

One of the main events of the campaign is a health talk session by medical experts. In the meantime, the Medical Officer from Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital (RIPAS), Dr Dayangku Nur Izyan Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Mohammad explained about heart care and preventive measures to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. He urged employees to prioritize heart health through regular checkups, exercise, and a balanced diet, in line with this year’s World Heart Day theme, Heart for Action.

Meanwhile, Health Promotion Center Medical Officer, Ministry of Health, Dr Norhanani Nadzirah binti Haji Mohd Taib, explained the Health Index program which aims to monitor and improve the overall health status in the country.

Meanwhile, Dr Amir’s Clinic Health Specialist, Dr Haji Mohammad Rizal bin Dr Haji Sablee, emphasized the importance of mental well-being at work. Referring to the theme of World Mental Health Day, It’s Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplacehe urged companies to provide an environment that supports mental balance and reduces work stress.

A question-and-answer session was also held to give employees the opportunity to seek further clarification from medical experts, allowing open discussion about managing physical and mental health in a busy work environment.

In addition, the campaign set up an exhibition stand offering free health screenings, educational materials and advice on healthy lifestyles.

Through this campaign, BMC seeks to encourage its employees to take care of their physical and mental health, in line with the company’s efforts in building a work environment that supports overall well-being. The move also contributes to the goal of creating a healthy country targeted in Vision 2035.
