COLUMBUS, Ohio—The Ohio State Highway Patrol will conduct daily bomb sweeps of Springfield schools and set up camera towers after dozens of bomb threats were called in amid national Republican criticism and misinformation regarding the city’s immigrant population, Gov. Mike DeWine’s office said Monday.
So far, 33 bomb threats – all of which turned out to be bogus – have been received involving Springfield since GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, running mate JD Vance, and others have ramped up criticism of the 15,000 or so Haitian immigrants in Springfield, a city of nearly 60,000, according to DeWine spokesman Dan Tierney.
