Brandenburg’s Left Party is struggling with the five percent hurdle. In an Insa survey commissioned by the “Nordkurier” in early August, the party was at exactly five percent. But at the beginning of July, the Infratest dimap institute, commissioned by the “RBB”, already saw them outside the state parliament. In Strausberg, the old NVA site east of Berlin, a woman is therefore attempting the almost impossible: Kerstin Kaiser, a veteran of the Brandenburg Leftwants to win her old constituency directly without any security on the state list.
