Sport: In the technical report, the Brazilians get an average score of 4.0 on a scale that goes to 5. The application to Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany stops at 3.7.
They are the only two contenders for the playoffs after Mexico and the United States dropped out. The North American countries have turned their eyes to the World Cup in 2031.
– The evaluation determines that both applications are qualified to be assessed by Fifa’s board and congress. Both exceed the minimum requirements set to host the Women’s World Cup in 2027, writes the International Football Association (FIFA).
The awarding of the championship takes place at the Fifa Congress in Bangkok on 17 May. The Norwegian Football Association has announced that they will vote on the European application.
The Women’s World Cup has never before been held in South America. The first playoffs were held in China in 1991.
