CLEVELAND, Ohio — Following a loss Sunday to the Cincinnati Bengals which dropped the Browns’ record to 1-6, fans coming out of Huntington Bank Stadium had pointed words for owner Jimmy Haslam.
“Come on, Jimmy, everybody blames it on Deshaun (Watson) but it‘s more than Deshaun. Somebody else needs the blame. I think it’s Jimmy and Andrew Berry,” one fan told cleveland.com after the game.
“You say that you‘re about a blue-collar town? You think that what you‘re servicing out of this stadium is worth it? I‘m sick of it!” one fan shouted. At the same time, another fan yelled, “Don’t move!”
Browns fans had mixed reviews about team ownership planning to move the team to Brook Park.
“The Browns need to stay here. We don’t need a dome, keep it here!”
Another fan countered, “Jimmy, big fan of moving the Browns to Brook Park. I think it’s better.”
However, there was no confusion about fans’ feelings toward the Watson experiment.
“Jimmy Haslam, we‘re 100% Browns fans, but get rid of Deshaun Watson. We don’t need him,” one said.
“Deshaun, recover. Then go somewhere else. Don’t come back here,” a fan quipped.
A fan reflected on Browns fans’ reaction to Watson as he was being carted off the field following a serious injury. “I‘m very disappointed in the fans. When Deshaun went down everybody was cheering. Probably lost his career. Obviously he‘s done some pretty messed up stuff but you don’t cheer for that.”
