It’s become a lottery game. In the end, you’re unlucky this week and then maybe the next week you’re the one who benefits from it,” said VfL coach Ralph Hasenhüttl.
His criticism was triggered by a handball penalty that led to Frankfurt’s winning goal in the 82nd minute by former Wolfsburg player Omar Marmoush. VfL defender Cedric Zesiger had previously received a free kick cross on his arm. However, after a similar scene in Eintracht’s penalty area, there was no penalty for Wolfsburg.

“Nowadays it’s like this: you just have to try to hit a hand somewhere in the box. That’s enough,” said Hasenhüttl, calling for “clearer lines” on the subject of handball. Wolfsburg captain Maximilian Arnold also said after the game: “I’ll be completely open and honest: I can’t see through it anymore.”
Even the Frankfurters could understand this criticism. “I understand that Wolfsburg are complaining,” said sporting director Markus Krösche. “It’s a difficult topic. There will always be and will always be a discussion.”
