Cedar Point announces record-breaking ‘tilt’ coaster, Siren’s Curse, for 2025

SANDUSKY, Ohio – Cedar Point is adding a 19th roller coaster to its ride lineup for 2025 – Siren’s Curse, which will be the tallest, fastest and longest “tilt” coaster in North America.

Its signature feature: A full stop on a piece of track that dramatically shifts (“tilts”) from horizontal to vertical, holding riders in a 90-degree vertical position, “forcing [them] to peer straight down with the hope their train will connect to the twisted track below.”

Cedar Point announced the new ride early Thursday. The park said it would open in early summer 2025.

The coaster will include a Lake Erie theme, featuring sirens of the lake “who lured sailors to their underwater demise with their sweet, seductive songs.”

According to the park: “Riders will hear the echo of the siren’s chilling melodies as they ascend an old 160-foot-tall Lake Erie shipping crane tower, the sounds growing more sinister as riders reach the top. Their fate will hang in the balance as they encounter the roller coaster’s signature moment: a dead stop on a ‘broken off’ section of track.”

The two-minute ride will feature 2,966 feet of track, a top speed of 58 mph and 13 weightless airtime moments. Guests must be 48 inches tall to ride.

Adding to the experience, the ride’s 24-passenger trains will feature integrated audio and LED lighting on each car.

Siren’s Curse will be located in the center of the park, across from the Iron Dragon roller coaster and near the Cedar Point Marina.

Carrie Boldman, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point, said the new ride will enhance the park’s topnotch roller coaster lineup.

“The entire ride is an experience filled with nonstop action, but that first precarious tilted position where you’re hanging on – looking straight down – and waiting for the track to connect will be a signature moment our fans will love,” she said. “It’s a first-of-its kind for Cedar Point and we’re thrilled to bring it to our guests.”

With the addition of Siren’s Curse, Cedar Point will be home to 19 roller coasters. That number includes Top Thrill 2, which opened earlier this year but was shut down after just one week of operation. Last month, Cedar Point announced that Top Thrill 2, a remake of record-breaking Top Thrill Dragster, would remain closed in 2024 and reopen in 2025.
