Celebrate the beauty of Brunei through the lens

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 12 – The Borneo Bulletin Photography Contest has offered a platform to talented photographers to capture and showcase the charming essence of the country through their camera lens and creativity.

The matter was explained by the General Manager of Brunei Press Sdn Bhd, Anafiah Omar during a speech at the prize-giving ceremony of the Borneo Bulletin Photography Contest held at the Radisson Hotel today.

The contest featured various categories, including People, Food & Culture, Landmarks & Wildlife, Royal Wedding, Brunei’s 40th National Day, as well as Fitness, Sports & Lifestyle.

Anafiah emphasized that the winners were judged in terms of originality, technical excellence, creativity, photographic quality and their ability to convey the unique beauty and character of Brunei Darussalam.

Present as the guest of honor was the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, who also presented prizes to the winners.

The contest has received an overwhelming response with over 1,000 entries submitted online as well as hard copies. The winning photos were judged based on the quality of photography, creativity and effectiveness in highlighting the uniqueness of Brunei, with evaluations from representatives of the contest’s sponsoring companies and Brunei Press.

For the Landmarks & Wildlife category, Raul Padernal took home the first prize, while Aina Azyyati binti Mohamad Rezal won the Fitness, Sports & Lifestyle category. The 40th National Day category was won by Law Hieng Hing.

Meanwhile, Yusri Omar emerged as the champion in the Royal Wedding category while Haji Kahan bin Haji Nasir won first place in the People, Food & Culture category.

Many photos of the winners with guests of honor, representatives of the organizers and sponsors and among those present.

Contest winners received various exciting prizes including a Canon EOS 1500D digital camera, a Baiduri Bank savings account, a BMW M bicycle, AIFA vouchers and equipment, a Radisson Hotel accommodation package, Supa Save vouchers and items and vouchers from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL).
