Daughter of Singapore’s first PM dies

KUALA LUMPUR, 9 OCT – The daughter of Singapore’s first Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew, Dr Lee Wei Ling, died today at the age of 69.

Dr Lee is also the younger brother of Singapore’s Senior Minister, Lee Hsien Loong.

His passing was announced by his younger brother, Lee Hsien Yang through a post on Facebook.

He said Dr Lee died at home, but the cause of death was not disclosed.

“No flowers, please donate to the following charities that will mean something to Wei Ling: Canossa Mission Singapore, Parkinson Society Singapore, Total Well-Being SG Limited,” he wrote.

Dr Lee in 2020 revealed that he had been diagnosed with the disease progressive supranuclear palsy.

A neurologist during his lifetime, Dr Lee, described his illness on Facebook as ‘a rather severe brain disease starting with Parkinson’s disease’ and followed by ‘difficulty swallowing, pneumonia and death.’ – Named
