Diaz’s two goals put Liverpool ahead of the league leaders

LIVERPOOL, SEPT 23 – Luis Díaz scored two goals in two minutes during a 3-0 win over Bournemouth to propel Liverpool to the top of the English Premier League yesterday.

Arne Slott’s side lead Manchester City on goal difference alone and the defending champions need a draw at home to Arsenal in tonight’s big game to reclaim top spot.

A rare quiet day for Mohamed Salah too as Díaz scored with both feet to showcase his signature finishing skills at Anfield.

The Colombian striker chased down a long pass from defender Ibrahima Konaté, before controlling the ball well with his waist as he turned, and then fired past goalkeeper Kepa into the bottom left corner in the 28th minute.

It was a goal with his right foot, his second goal was with his left foot in the 30th minute.

Liverpool started the attack from midfield and Trent Alexander-Arnold ran forward before passing the ball to Díaz on the left side of the penalty area who slotted neatly past Kepa.

Darwin Núñez scored the third goal in the 37th minute. Picked up the ball from the right as he looked to make a cross, before changing his mind and curling a shot to the left post that hit the net to make it 3-0. – AP
