Did Ohio State football catch a break on its first drive vs. Oregon? Here’s the controversial play

EUGENE, Ore. — Quarterback Will Howard scored on Ohio State football’s opening drive against Oregon. However, the drive came with controversy.

On a first down play near midfield, Howard launched a 32-yard pass to tight end Will Kacmarek. After a battle for the ball on the field, linebacker Jeffrey Bassa emerged with what the home faithful thought was an interception.

However, officials on the field ruled the ball was caught and Kacmarek was down before it was ripped away by Bassa.
