BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 10 OCT – Brunei Darussalam’s delegation from the Department of Sharia Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs (KHEU) led by the Director of Sharia Affairs, Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gemok has participated in the ASEAN Working Group Meeting on Halal Food (AWGHF) the 20th.
This year, the meeting was chaired by the Malaysian state virtually through a Special Video Conference located in the Meeting Room, Sharia Affairs Department, KHEU (Old) Building.
Among those who attended the special video conference of the meeting were officials from the Department of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, the Department of Agriculture and Nutrition, the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, the Brunei Darussalam Food Authority and the Department of Public, International and MABIMS Relations, KHEU.
The ASEAN Working Group on Halal Food has been established to facilitate the uniformity of halal standards especially in the ASEAN region with the aim of meeting the growing demand for reliable and guaranteed halal products and services, as well as ensuring the availability of halal products for the Muslim population in the region.
The meeting discussed the development of action plans for ASEAN cooperation in halal food.
Among other things, the discussion focused on matters raised in ASEAN High Level meetings, updating regional halal cooperation under MABIMS, BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT, progress in the implementation of the action plan for ASEAN cooperation in halal food (2021- 2025) and ASEAN general guidelines on halal food.
