Human-induced climate change has increased the likelihood of Droughts causing water shortages and agricultural losses in Sardinia and Sicilyby 50 percent. This is the result of a rapid analysis carried out by a team of leading scientists as part of the World Weather Attribution (WWA).

The study warns that such droughts will increase if global warming increases by further fractions of a degree. This underlines the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zeroThe study was not subject to peer review, but according to WWA, the methods used have been used several times in peer-reviewed studies.
