Eastlake man charged with felonious assault after striking other man with car at Hillcrest Hospital

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — An Eastlake man, 22, was charged with two counts of felonious assault and one count of assault after he struck another man with his car in the Hillcrest Hospital parking lot around 2:15 a.m. Sept. 20.

He had been at the hospital with his girlfriend, who brought her child for treatment.

The child’s father was the victim, 28, who was struck by the vehicle. He had been texting the child’s mother and came to the hospital to see the child.

When he and his girlfriend arrived, he said that the suspect was in the parking lot and hit them both with an aluminum baseball bat. He said that after a short fight, he was walking away when the suspect struck him from behind with his car. He was moved into the ER for treatment and later request a protection order.

A witness reported seeing the victim on the hood of the car and subsequently rolling off it.

An officer was in the area when the report came in and was able to stop the suspect’s car as it entered Interstate-271.
