Ice hockey champions Eisbären Berlin have suffered their first defeat in preparation for the new season. One day after their 4:2 victory against the Finnish top club Oulun Kärpät, coach Serge Aubin’s team lost 0:5 (0:2, 0:1, 0:2) to hosts HC Motor České Budějovice at the tournament in Budweis, Czech Republic. A week ago, the Eisbären won their first test match against their cooperation partner Lausitzer Füchse from the DEL2 with 5:0.

Five days before the start of the Champions Hockey League (CHL) competitive game on September 5th against the Swedish club Växjö Lakers, the Berliners had no chance from the start. The new DEL season begins for the defending champions on September 20th with an away game against the Kölner Haie.
