HOUSTON, OCT 17 – Tesla CEO Elon Musk is now one of the top Republican donors in the 2024 US presidential election, donating nearly US$75 million to help Donald Trump get re-elected to the White House.
Musk, considered the world’s richest man, is the sole donor to America PAC, a political action committee he founded, which has spent about US$72 million to support Trump’s bid for the presidency.
The amount of funds collected was obtained from the Federal Election Commission’s (FEC) quarterly filings for the period between July and September, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported citing data released by the FEC on Tuesday.
Musk endorsed Trump in July, after a failed assassination attempt on the former president in the state of Pennsylvania.
Since then, his super PAC has focused its efforts on key battleground states and has become an important fundraising arm of the Trump campaign, with Musk joining the former president on stage at a campaign rally held at the site of Trump’s assassination attempt.
Other major Republican donors listed in the report include venture capitalist investors Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, who each contributed US$2.5 million to super PACs that raised funds for the former president. – Named
