TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas Board of Regents is releasing enrollment information for public universities and community and technical colleges.

The KBOR says the public university, community college and technical college sectors all saw growth in headcount and full-time equivalent enrollment. Overall, the system experienced a 4% increase in headcount as of the 20th day of the fall census compared to the prior year.

Across the six state universities, enrollment increased by 2,093 students (2.3%). Community colleges experienced an increase of 3,602 students (5.9%), while technical colleges saw an increase of 576 students (5.3%).

At WSU Tech, 6,106 students are enrolled, the highest headcount ever for WSU Tech. It was an increase of 451 students (8%) from last year.

“It is a direct result of our relentless focus on access and affordability and our commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation,” said Wichita State President Rick Muma. “By aligning our resources and efforts, we are equipping students with the skills and opportunities they need to lead in their careers and drive progress across Kansas and on the global stage.”

Kansas State University and the University of Kansas also saw their enrollments jump.

KU says it has its largest freshman class and highest overall enrollment in history, with 30,770. It includes a 5.6% jump at the Lawrence and Edwards campuses and a 0.1% decrease at the KU Medical Center campuses.

K-State’s overall headcount this semester grew to 20,295 students across all campuses. The university says this year’s freshmen class is the largest since 2018.
