Evidence of fake: Police investigate image: Alleged official with Palestinian flag

The Berlin police say they are checking images on the Internet that allegedly show a police officer with a Palestinian flag and the so-called wolf salute gesture. There are indications that the image is fake, the authority wrote on the X platform. “We are of course checking this – also with regard to the unauthorized wearing of a police insignia,” the post continued.

One photo shows a man in what appears to be police uniform, standing with his index finger raised and other men behind a Palestinian flag. The spokesman for the police union (GdP), Benjamin Jendro, wrote on X: “Shirt too light and without badges, black trousers, brown shoes = fake uniform!”

The wolf salute usually expresses affiliation or sympathy with the Turkish right-wing extremist Ülkücü movement and its ideology. In Turkey, it is used by the ultra-nationalist MHP party, which is a partner of the government under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
