A major fire broke out in the teahouse in the English Garden in Berlin. The building went up in flames overnight for reasons that were initially unclear, the fire department and police reported. The thatched roof was completely burnt down, a fire department spokesman said. No one was injured, and the extent of the damage was initially unclear.
85 firefighters were able to extinguish most of the flames, but a few smaller pockets of fire remained. According to the fire service, the fire-fighting operations will probably last until the early morning, as will the closure of the nearby Altonaer Straße.
