Temperatures are not as cold this morning. A southerly breeze during the overnight has helped keep us above freezing. This will translate to a warmer afternoon later today.
Winds are already breezy to start the day. Gusts could reach 45 to 50 mph today.
Due to gusty winds and dry conditions, Fire Weather Warnings will be in effect today. Any grassfires will spread and get out of control quickly.
To account for the strong winds a Wind Advisory will be in effect for a handful of our Central Kansas counties. Drivers of high profile vehicles will need to use extra caution while driving on our interstates and highways.
Our next system is heading in our direction. Western Kansas will notice a few more clouds moving in ahead of it later today.
A chance for rain returns to Western Kansas tonight. Any moisture will be in the form of a few sprinkles or light showers. This chance will last into Friday.
Central Kansas will remain dry through much of the day tomorrow but will be included in rain chances by the weekend.
The majority of the rainfall will be across the Western half of the area Saturday and Sunday. A few showers and storms could still make their way into Central Kansas though.
This next system advances farther east Monday, bringing a better chance for rain and rumbles in Central Kansas. As moisture moves out we will turn dry again by Tuesday.
High temperatures will be near the norm through the weekend and will warm above average next week.
