CLEVELAND, Ohio – Five years after City Hall passed a lead-safe law meant to better protect young children against the dangers of lead paint exposure, there’s been no change in the rate of Cleveland kids getting poisoned.
In fact, child lead poisoning cases in Cleveland increased between 2022 and 2023, according to new city data released Friday. Seventy-four more kids were found to have been poisoned last year compared to 2022, representing an increase of 5.5%.
