BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 18 – An individual was fined $100 by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) on September 17 for violating Chapter 12(1) under the Littering Offenses Act 2021, which is the offense of throwing garbage in public place.

The individual was found to have committed the offense of throwing plastic bottles at Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas and was given a period of seven days from the date the compound was issued to pay the compound fine.

If you fail to pay the compound fine, the individual can be charged to court, and if convicted, can be fined not less than $1,000 and not more than $3,000 for the first offense and for the second or subsequent offense can be fined not less than $3,000 and not more than $9,000 , shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months or both.

JASTRe would like to remind any individual, public or any company to always maintain cleanliness and practice being responsible for the cleanliness of the environment.
