Sports director Simon Rolfes of double winner Bayer Leverkusen has also spoken out in favor of ending the summer transfer period before the start of the season. “This hectic pace of the last two weeks, this unrest that always exists in a team or among players, I think it would be good if it were over sooner. That it is clear earlier, before the first match day, that this is the team we are going into the season with,” said Rolfes (42) in the podcast “Spielmacher – Fußball von allen Seiten” by 360Media with Sebastian Hellmann.

According to Rolfes, most transfers would go through even with a shorter time frame – and even faster. “That would be a blessing for everyone,” said the former international player.

Recently, other protagonists from the professional industry have also spoken out in favor of a transfer freeze before the start of the season. “I don’t think it would change anything if we ended the whole story a month earlier,” said Wolfsburg coach Ralph Hasenhüttl, for example. “Then you might have a few weeks in which you can work with your team and then know on the first match day: This is your team.”
