The suspect, a 43-year-old Iranian national, was arrested with 4.4kg of drugs hidden in two ceramic items at a hotel in the Penjaringan area, north of Jakarta, yesterday.
Jakarta Police Narcotics Investigation Chief, Donald Parlaungan Simanjuntak said today, investigators received preliminary information about drugs being smuggled in ceramics sent from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Jakarta.
Officers then tracked down the recipient of the package, which led to the suspect’s arrest.
Under Indonesia’s drug laws, individuals involved in drug-related crimes face severe penalties, ranging from five years in prison to the death penalty. – Named
