Vienna (dpo) – First Saxony, Thuringia and Brandenburg, now also Austria: Apparently annoyed by the poor policies of the traffic light government in Berlin, the majority of Austrian voters gave their vote to the right-wing populist FPÖ, making it the strongest force in the National Council with 28.8% .
The result comes as no surprise to experts. “This is once again a lesson for the hopelessly divided traffic light that no one trusts to do anything anymore,” explains pollster Hilde Manzinger. “Olaf Scholz should think carefully about how long he wants to keep up this farce.”
The hiccups over the heating law, the dispute over asylum policy, the shutdown of the nuclear power plants – given these conditions, many people in Austria were virtually forced to vote for a party whose politicians sing SS songs.
Forming a coalition in Vienna is now likely to be difficult. “But Scholz and Habeck brought this on themselves with their bad politics.”
Experts assume that after the disastrous election results in Austria, at least the entire Green party leadership will resign again.
