French couple sued for rooster crowing

FRANCE, OCT 22 – A couple from Bourgoin-Jallieu are being sued by a neighbor who claims their rooster, Ricco, is disturbing the peace with his loud crowing. The owner of the Bantam rooster, Franck, is scheduled to appear in court in January next year to answer these charges.

According to a report by Odditycentral, the neighbors who made the complaint stated that the rooster’s crowing caused sleep disturbances and affected their quality of life. The rooster crows no matter the time, day or night, although the owner denies the claim. According to Franck, Ricco’s coop doors are controlled by an automatic system that only allows the doors to be opened at 8:30 a.m. in the winter and 9 a.m. in the summer. He also pointed out that the rooster only crowed a few times each morning and occasionally during the day.

The couple have been residents for 25 years and moved from the city to enjoy the country life. They were shocked when a neighbor who had just moved in 2021 took the case to court after discussions at town hall failed to reach a resolution.

Franck stated that he had spoken to all the neighbors except the prosecutor and found that no one was bothered by Ricco’s antics. In fact, some of them enjoy the sound of the clucking, which is considered part of country life.

The case gained widespread attention as it was the third of its kind after the Maurice and Caruso rooster case, which also sparked a similar controversy in France. Ricco is now getting support from the public through a support page on social media, where many are suggesting that those who don’t like the sound of the rooster’s crowing should move. – Agency
