German Ice Hockey League: Eisbären coach praises good start

Head coach Serge Aubin was completely satisfied with the Eisbären Berlin’s start to the season in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL): “It was a really good and positive weekend for us,” said the Canadian after the 4-1 win over the Iserlohn Roosters.

After the first two league games, the record of the reigning champions, who won their opening game in Cologne 6-2 on Friday, is indeed impressive: With six points and a goal difference of 10:3, the Eisbären are at the top of the table.

After their strong performances in the Champions Hockey League (CHL), the team also showed themselves to be focused and well-rehearsed in the DEL from the start. The newly signed attackers Gabriel Fontaine and Liam Kirk have also already harmonized well with their line partners and have contributed half of the goals scored so far. Fontaine has already scored three goals after the first two league games, Kirk two.

National player Noebels sees “still room for improvement”

The Berlin team proved that they are also mentally strong after falling behind early in Iserlohn. “I liked that we simply stuck to our line throughout the game,” praised Coach Aubin. “We remained disciplined and calm and played hard against the puck.”

Despite the strong early form, attacker Marcel Noebels still sees room for improvement for the rest of the season: “We’ve now got the second matchday behind us. I think there’s still room for improvement,” said the national player on Magenta Sport. “We’re always determined and want to get better from game to game.”
