“Gilmore Girls” star Scott Cohen and his wife, Anastasia Traina, feel lucky to be alive after they were unwittingly involved in a high-speed car chase over the summer that left both of them injured.

The pair were on their way home in Brooklyn, New York, when they were hit in a head-on collision by the suspect in the car chase.

“We thought we were dead,” Cohen told Page Six at HBO’s “The Penguin” premiere Tuesday night in New York City.

“My wife’s arm is all messed up,” Cohen continued. “I have a broken sternum, which is supposed to be never-healing. It’s like called a nonunion break, and it’s never going to heal.”

On June 29, cops pulled over a male driver for a routine traffic stop in Astoria, Queens, when he suddenly took off with the police in pursuit, according to The Astoria Post. He then drove into Greenpoint, Brooklyn, which is where he collided with Cohen’s car.

The suspect’s car burst into flames and he took off on foot, exchanging gunfire with the police. It’s unclear if the suspect was ever apprehended.

After the accident, Cohen, 62, posted photos of himself in hospital and his totaled car, writing that it emphasized “the fragility of us and how life can change in an instant.”

He added, “With broken bones, bruised bodies, lots of drugs, and the impact of a random act of aggression that hit us we venture on.

“I’m very pissed my existence right now is about healing but at the same time truly grateful @afunnybunnypicture and I are both here to experience the love and incredible generosity of friends and family.”

Despite his injuries, Cohen was able to attend “The Penguin” red carpet along with the show’s cast, Colin Farrell, Cristin Milioti, Theo Rossi, Clancy Brown and Michael Zeger.

The series — a spinoff from “Batman,” which is currently streaming on Max — follows the nefarious Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, as he attempts to take over the criminal world in Gotham.

Cohen told us at the premiere it’s “very cool” to be part of the star-studded cast.

“My entire childhood, I dreamed of being Superman, being Batman,” he explained. “Those were my dreams. Like when I was really young. And then I got a chance to do some.”

Cohen is probably best known for playing Lorelai Gilmore’s hapless suitor Max Medina on “Gilmore Girls” and he admits a week doesn’t go by when he isn’t recognized.

“To me, television is about impact,” he said. “And if you can have impact on someone, then that is the reason to do it. I mean it’s other reason I’m an actor.

“I get to express myself, but I want to have impact in the world, I want somebody to feel something that I’m giving them to feel.”

Cohen will be hosting a weekend workshop on acting in NYC on Oct. 5 and 6.
