Green program of educator competence level

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 10 – To promote green initiatives in the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector in Southeast Asia, SEAMEO VOCTECH in collaboration with the Hong Kong University of Education today started a domestic training program on Greening of TVET held at the SEAMEO VOCTECH Regional Center.

The five-day training program starting today until September 14 was attended by 25 participants from Brunei Darussalam, including TVET educators from SEAMEO VOCTECH, Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA), Brunei Institute of Technical Education (IBTE), Micronet International College (MIC) and Brunei Polytechnic (PB).

Present as the guest of honor to inaugurate the program was the Director and Chief Executive Officer of IBTE, Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli.

Also present at the program were SEAMEO VOCTECH Center Director, Haji Norjemee bin Jenek; Associate Professor from the Hong Kong University of Education and training co-facilitator, Dr Margarita Pavlova; as well as the deputy director and officers from the center.

According to the statement, aware of the important role of TVET in fostering a greener economy and society in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), recent studies have emphasized the need for specialized training for TVET educators.

The training course is important to improve their competence in implementing and integrating green practices in their curriculum.

Dr Margerita Pavlova together with SEAMEO VOCTECH TVET experts, Dr Paryono and Dr Jaya Priah, will be the co-facilitators of the training to help participants improve their understanding towards the greening of TVET.

The training program aims to deepen the knowledge and skills of TVET educators and leaders in understanding the challenges and opportunities to revitalize the industry and economy, by preparing them to effectively integrate insights into their teaching and strategic planning.

The initiative marks an important step in equipping TVET institutions with the tools and knowledge needed to lead the transition towards a greener economy, ensuring that the workforce of the future is not only skilled but also environmentally sensitive.
