More than two years ago, the Federal Government reacted to a severe reduction in Russian gas supplies the so-called Alert level of Gas emergency plan – the second of three stages. At the time, Habeck had also launched a package of measures to reduce gas consumption in industry and to enable gas to be stored instead.
Germany has now overcome its former dependence on Russian gas. On Wednesday evening, Habeck said at a citizens’ dialogue with the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung” that there was no more gas shortages.
