CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Hospice of Western Reserve has received a $3 million leadership gift toward its new lakefront Hospice Care and Community Center.
The gift was from the James and Angela Hambrick Foundation, which in 2021 had gifted $2 million toward Western Reserve’s Care Solutions Center.
The $3 million will be used to help with the construction of the upcoming 50,000 square-foot Hospice Care and Community center, which will be located in the city’s Collinwood neighborhood adjacent to its current Hospice House on East 185th Street.
Western Reserve said that this was the first donation in the Western Reserve’s “Quality of Life” campaign, which supports enhancing the community’s access to end-of-life care.
The new hospice care center, which Western Reserve said will cost about $25 million, will feature 32 private patient rooms that will all have views of the lake, enhance family spaces and state-of-the-art technology to support end-of-life care. It will also house a community center that offers bereavement support services.
There will also be educational outreach programs that will encourage community members to think about end-of-life decision like advanced healthcare directives and final wishes.
Bill Finn, president and CEO of Western Reserve, said the gift will have a “lasting impact on the quality of care we will provide well into the future from the community we serve.”
The Hospice Care and Community Center is scheduled to open in 2026.
