Hundreds of dogs expected at popular Woofstock Saturday

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Humane Society is getting ready for one of its most popular events of the year. Woofstock is this Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sedgwick County Park, 6501 W. 21st Street.

Kansas Humane Society’s Director of Communications Jordan Bani-Younes visited KSN News at Noon on Thursday and discussed the importance of the event that raises money to help Wichita’s homeless and abandoned animals.

While the event has a serious goal, it is all about fun for dogs, their owners, and animal enthusiasts. There will be a Woof Walk and Breakfast, stage contests, a beer garden, an auction, vendor booths, food trucks, live music, ruff races, a dog agility course, a kid’s play clinic, a photo booth, live demonstrations from the Wichita Police Department’s K9 unit, and more.

“It’s going to be so much fun,” Bani-Younes said. “We absolutely love Woofstock. It’s something we go all year in for. It’s our 28th annual year. We’re really excited for it.”

Admission to Woofstock is $15 for people 13 and older, $5 for kids 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and under.

Woof Walk costs extra. Click here to learn more about all the events and to register.

Bani-Younes was joined by a dog named Colonel Sanders who is up for adoption. Colonel Sanders is about a year old and weighs about 40 pounds.

“He’s very, very sweet,” Bani-Younes said. “He loves to kiss. He loves to cuddle. We really hope he finds his home soon because he is so cute.”
