Hurricane Milton is expected to hit Florida

MOSCOW, OCT 7 – Tropical storm Milton has now turned into a hurricane and is reportedly headed for Florida, United States (US), according to reports Sputnik which cites the US National Hurricane Center (NHC).

The office of the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, the day before announced a state of emergency in 35 counties following the threat of Hurricane Milton approaching.

According to meteorologists, Typhoon Milton is now carrying strong winds with a maximum speed of around 130 kilometers per hour and is moving towards the east at a speed of about nine kilometers per hour.

US President Joe Biden was briefed on the situation and urged Florida residents to follow the instructions of local authorities.

In developments related to Hurricane Helene, he also announced the dispatch of an additional 500 military personnel to North Carolina to assist with recovery and disaster response efforts.

Previously, CNN reported that the death toll from Hurricane Helene, which hit the southeastern US last September, rose to at least 227 people.

US Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, also stated that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is now facing a lack of resources to deal with the effects of the storm throughout the rest of this hurricane season. – Named
