Although the events took place 80 years ago, Ivar Buterfas-Frankenthal still has nightmares about them today: He was just five years old when he and around 400 of his classmates were called into the schoolyard one day. The teacher called him a “Jewish scoundrel” and expelled him from school. When Buterfas-Frankenthal tried to leave, a small group of classmates threw him to the ground, kicked him and put out cigarettes on his leg.
