EUGENE, Ore. — Ohio State football lost, 32-21, in Saturday’s contest at Oregon. The defeat was parlayed with unfortunate news regarding the status of starting left tackle Josh Simmons.
Postgame, coach Ryan Day said, “It doesn’t look great” regarding the likelihood of Simmons returning this season.
Simmons was carted off midway through the second quarter. Day did not specify what the injury was.
Zen Michalski replaced Simmons.
Simmons is the Buckeyes’ top-graded pass blocker, according to Pro Football Focus. He played 283 snaps this season entering Saturday’s contest after playing 825 snaps last year.
Simmons is a product of San Diego, California. He was a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
He spent his first two seasons of collegiate football playing at San Diego State. He transferred to Ohio State ahead of the 2023 campaign.
Michalski is a senior out of Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
