JPI launches special book | Gem Media Online

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 30 SEPT – In order to add to the historical reference treasure of Religious Education in this country, the Department of Islamic Studies (JPI) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (KHEU) sketched history by publishing a special book entitled Suluh Darussalam: Religious schools in Brunei Darussalam which contains the history of the establishment of religious schools in this country.

Present to complete the book launch ceremony at the Auditorium, Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah this afternoon was the Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Director Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.

The book launch ceremony was held in conjunction with the 68th Anniversary of the Implementation of Formal Religious Education in Brunei Darussalam.

The publication of the book aims to provide a comprehensive reference source that can be used in the studies of academics and the public. The publication of the book is also to celebrate JPI’s achievements in empowering Religious Education in this country.

According to the Director of Islamic Studies, KHEU, Haji Shamshol bin Haji Omar, as the chairman of the council said, in general, the objective of the council is as a sign of gratitude to Allah SWT for JPI’s success in publishing books Suluh Darussalam: Religious Schools In Brunei Darussalam; and celebrate and appreciate all parties directly involved in the work process of publishing this book; and as an outreach platform to KHEU citizens in particular and the public in general.

Torch means something used to illuminate. This kalimah is very significant and fulfills the role of religious schools as a center of knowledge and a place for learning religious knowledge that is expected to guide the community to understand and practice Islamic Sharia in a correct and orderly manner.

The construction of religious schools in this country, Brunei Darussalam is likened to a torch that illuminates students in particular and society in general with the light of religious knowledge in order to strengthen faith and piety to Allah SWT.

Through the implementation of a formal religious schooling system, the learning of religious sciences is expected to be able to produce students who are knowledgeable, intelligent and religiously educated as well as virtuous. With such an approach, it is also hoped to be one of the reasons for the blessings that have been enjoyed by the people and residents of this country.

Also present at the ceremony were the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan; KHEU Permanent Secretary, Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim; KHEU Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance), Awang Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim; KHEU Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religion), Dr Haji Hardifadhillah bin Haji Mohd Salleh; and Ra’es of Seri Begawan University College of Religious Education, Associate Professor Dr Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani.

The ceremony was also attended by KHEU senior officers, principals and head teachers of Arabic and religious schools throughout the country.
