BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 4 OCT – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will leave to attend the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and the -Related Summit to be held in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic on October 8 to 11.
Laos, as ASEAN Chairman this year with the conference theme ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience will focus on intensifying ASEAN cooperation efforts under the three community pillars, improving infrastructure connectivity, reducing the development gap, encouraging economic integration and more frequent exchanges between people as well as strengthening ASEAN’s relations with external partners thus maintaining ASEAN’s relevance and unity in the growing regional architecture.
This year’s summits will bring together the leaders of ASEAN and the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste together with ASEAN Dialogue Partners to promote integrated action in implementing priority areas and deliverables ASEAN Chairman’s main goal is to further increase connectivity and regional empowerment.
In jointly responding to regional and global challenges in the future, the discussion will also focus on ASEAN’s general goals and aspirations towards increasing peace, stability and prosperity in the region including sustainable and inclusive development, digital transformation, change climate, ASEAN Community development efforts, ASEAN external relations as well as regional and international issues of common interest.
