LTdL 2024: Muhammad Zawawi rejoins the MPC

KUALA LUMPUR, SEPT 20 – Experienced racer Muhammad Zawawi Azman considers his career to be ‘reviving’ ahead of the 2024 Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) race from September 29 to October 6.

Muhammad Zawawi officially rejoined his old team, Team Sapura Cycling (TSC) which is now known as Malaysia Pro Cycling Team (MPC).

“Of course, as a local rider, especially competing in our own country, I want to be on the podium at this year’s LTdL race.

“It doesn’t matter if I win any stage of the race or category of the best rider in Malaysia or Asia, I will not waste the opportunity,” he said when met recently.

Muhammad Zawawi said he and his teammates are actively undergoing the final phase of training after participating in the recent Salalah Tour in Oman.

“At the moment, all our preparations for facing the LTdL are going quite well and we have participated in about four tournaments this year and the latest in Oman.

“Before that, we also performed at the Tour de Ijen in Indonesia last July in addition to the Trans-Himalaya Tour and the Tour of Hainan in China at the end of last month,” he said.

In the meantime, the 30-year-old rider is confident that the team’s preparations ahead of the race are now at their best while hoping that the positive momentum can be maintained.

“What I see, our team has a good combination of riders. Each rider already knows their respective roles, so that will make our job easier later,” he said, acting as a domestic super rider.

At the same time, Muhammad Zawawi said he was grateful to the National Cycling Federation of Malaysia (PKBM) for giving him the opportunity to line up for the Malaysian team at LTdL 2023. – Bernama
