SINGAPORE, SEPT 10 – A 34-year-old Malaysian man suspected of being involved in drug smuggling activities was arrested in Singapore after authorities found more than five kilograms of drugs estimated to be worth S$305,000 in the car he was driving.
According to Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), the man was arrested around Chin Swee Road in an operation carried out last night.
“As a result of the inspection of the car driven by the suspect, our side managed to seize approximately 264 grams (g) of the drug ‘Ice’, 1.88 kg of heroin and 3.14 kg of ganja.
The seized drugs can be used by about 1,500 addicts for a week,” according to CNB in a statement issued today.
Further investigation into the suspect’s drug smuggling activities is underway.
Under Singapore law, those found guilty of smuggling more than 15g of pure heroin (diamorphine), 250g of methamphetamine, or 500g of marijuana can be subject to the mandatory death penalty. – Named
