A man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a prisoner in Cloverhill prison.
Martin Salinger, 43, from Ballyfermot in Dublin was pronounced dead in a cell on the D1 landing after a row after 5.30am this morning.
Mr Salinger’s body remained in the prison on Saturday afternoon.
Sources said the scene of the death was a gruesome one.
Gardai arrested a man in his 30s this afternoon and are questioning him under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in West Dublin.
Investigations are ongoing, said a garda spokesman.
