Football stars Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior gave Real Madrid a successful dress rehearsal for the Champions League match against VfB Stuttgart. The two top stars led the Spanish record champions to a 2-0 (0-0) win in the away match in the league against Real Sociedad San Sebastián with a converted penalty each.
Real is in second place in the table, one point behind FC Barcelona, coached by Hansi Flick, who will face FC Girona this Sunday (4.15 p.m.).
First, the Brazilian Vinícius Júnior scored the 1-0 goal after a handball in the penalty area (58th minute). Then the Frenchman Mbappé did not miss the big chance from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 (75th minute) after Vinícius was fouled in the penalty area. According to data provider Opta, it was the first time since 2019 that two different Real professionals have scored two penalties in a league game. But Madrid were also lucky because San Sebastian hit the post several times.

To kick off the new Champions League season, Real will host German runners-up VfB Stuttgart on Tuesday (9 p.m.). The Swabians have also gained new confidence following their 3-1 win at Borussia Mönchengladbach.
