‘Medical emergency’ puts famous rapper in hospital, forces her to miss festival

NEW YORK — Rapper Cardi B has been hospitalized because of an undisclosed medical emergency, forcing her to cancel a performance at a music festival in Atlanta.

“I am so sad to share this news, but I’ve been in the hospital recovering from a medical emergency the last couple of days and I won’t be able to perform at ONE MusicFest,” Cardi B, 32, wrote in a post on Instagram. “It breaks my heart that I wont get to see my fans this weekend and I really wish I could be there.

“Bardi Gang — thank you for understanding and I’ll be back better and stronger soon.”

Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, was set to perform at ONE Music Fest this weekend in Atlanta. Other acts scheduled to perform are Earth, Wind & Fire, Nelly, Gunna and GloRilla.

She has been a force on the music scene since her 2018 debut album, “Invasion of Privacy,” reached No. 1 on the Billboard chart. She is the only solo female artist to win the Grammy for Best Rap Album. She also has the most No. 1 singles as a female rap artist with five.

She has sold more than 100 million recordings in the U.S.
